About Béal Organic Cheese

Béal Organic Cheese Ltd, (as seen on Dragon’s Den in April 2010) a Kerry based Company was founded in 1987 at the family-run Dairy farm located by the mouth of the River Shannon. Originally, the establishment of the business came about as a result of pure curiosity & passion. As Kate Carmody, Beal Cheese Company founder would say herself “it became my true love when I moved to what can only be described as God’s own country; how could I not be inspired?”. This inspiration led the way for what would later become an award winning creation.

By 1997, however it seemed that one important element of the product’s identity was missing, Organic recognition. Béal Cheese first entered organic conversion at the end of 1997. It achieved full organic status for the turn of the millenium. This meant Béal Lodge Dairy Farm became one of 24 organic dairy farms in Ireland. This has now become its most fundamental and defining quality-its presence as an Organic engender of agriculture . Beal Organic Cheese has fortuitously been and is continuing to remain an integral part of the Irish Organics Market. As the first Organic Irish Cheddar, it plays an important part on the Organics Market.
